A Message from The Director

Thank you for your interest in Voices for Children, Howard County’s Court Appointed Special Advocate Program. In addition to the CASA Program, we created Fostering Futures to help adolescents who will be aging out of foster care at age 21 with no family support. An important component of Fostering Futures is the online resource network of caring individuals and organizations in Howard County. Through the network and their personal contacts, resources are sought to meet the needs of older foster youth. The areas of concentration are employment, housing, transportation, education, health care, financial literacy and personal skill training. Also, household items for the youth setting up their own households are also sought. Individuals and organizations receive a monthly email that will list the needs of youth transitioning into adulthood. Community members will then respond if they can meet the needs. This effort has been extremely successful.

— Erica Byrne, Executive Director

What Is Voices For Children, Howard County?

Voices for Children was incorporated as a non-profit organization in September 1990 in response to legislation passed by the Maryland State Assembly authorizing state support for such a program. Since our inception we have helped expedite the placement of over 572 Howard County children into safe and permanent homes.
