How You Can Help
Become a CASA Volunteer
CASA volunteers come from all walks of life, bringing a variety of experiences to their
work as advocates on behalf of abused and neglected children. There are no special
educational or professional requirements, but advocates must be 21 years old.
Volunteers are carefully screened and receive 30-40 hours of training before being
assigned to children.
Become A "Friend of CASA"
Maryland CASA Association and the local CASA programs are always in need of
volunteers who may not be able to be an advocate for a child, but can help with
fundraising, event-planning, volunteer recruitment, administrative work, etc. We also
have a variety of internship opportunities for college students. Please go to our
"Contact Us" page and complete the request for information form or call us at (888)
833-2272.
Workplace Giving Campaigns
Please consider designating Maryland CASA Association for your
workplace giving contributions through the United Way, Combined
Federal Campaign, or the Maryland Charity Campaign. Our
designation numbers are:
Maryland Charity Campaign: 7802
Combined Federal Campaign: 5427
United Way: no designation number; simply write “Maryland CASA
Association” on your pledge card.
Become a Corporate Partner
Maryland CASA Association is always working to build partnerships with Maryland
businesses that are committed to improving the lives of children by promoting
voluntarism among their employees, providing in kind services, or providing financial
support. Here are some examples of corporate partnership opportunities:
- Host a CASA Information/Orientation Meeting
- Sponsor a Volunteer Training Class or Session
- Provide meeting space for Volunteer Training classes
- Promote awareness of CASA within your workplace
- Become a sponsor of a local or statewide event
- Provide in-kind support, such as printing, graphic design, etc.

The CASA volunteer’s primary responsibility
is to serve as the “eyes and ears” of the
Court, gathering information from the child,
his/her biological parents, foster parents,
teachers, counselors, etc. and making
recommendations to the judge as to what is
in the child's best interest.
There are currently more than 700 CASA volunteers advocating for 900 children in
Maryland, but there are more than 11,000 children in foster care today, leaving more
than 9 in 10 children without advocates.
If you would like more information about becoming a CASA volunteer, click here to go to
our "Contact Us" page and complete the request for information form or you may
download a volunteer application by clicking here. A CASA staff member will be in
contact with you right away. If you live outside Maryland and wish to locate a CASA
program near you, please visit the National CASA Association web site or call
800-628-3233.
Please note: We use a nonprofit service to process our credit card transactions. GIVEDIRECT is the name that will appear on your credit card statement - not Maryland CASA. GIVEDIRECT charges no fees for processing donations so 100)% of your donation will come directly to Maryland CASA.
